Modern Square Dancing is team dancing done in groups of eight people. It has the potential to provide endless variations of choreography, layers of complexity, physical fitness, mental acuity, a community of friends and infinite hours of fun! The following steps are the simplest explanation for how this is accomplished.
Modern Square Dancing can be traced back centuries to when the settlers came to North America, bringing their traditional dances with them. The various folk dances changed and merged, and were guided by a caller who remembered the dance steps.
