Welcome to Social Square Dancing!
Dress is casual. Wear comfortable, indoor shoes suitable for a gym floor.
Slow learner? Fast learner? No partner?
No experience? Two left feet?
Can't lead? Need to miss a week or more?
NO Problem!
Dance steps are taught in small groups, so you can learn at your own pace.
Ask all the questions you want.
If you miss a few sessions, you just pick up where you left off.
Want your friends to try it out? Bring them ANYTIME - the first session is FREE!
A night of dance includes:

- Qualified dance instructors
- Meeting new people

OUR DANCE INSTRUCTORS
Dave & Claudia started dancing with our club in 1994. Dave began his training as a Square Dance Caller/Instructor in 2005, and was hired by our club in 2008. They also teach in Calgary and Rocky Mountain House, and enjoy calling square dances for private functions such as staff parties, weddings, birthdays and other special events.
In addition to Square Dancing, we offer weekly basic instruction in Two-Step or Waltz. Because couples dance in a large circle around the dance floor, we refer to couple dancing as Round Dancing. Claudia is our Round Dance instructor and she began her training in 2008.

OUR CLUB
We're a friendly group of active people, a 50/50 mix of singles and couples, from various backgrounds and ages who enjoy dancing, music and having fun.
We meet every Wednesday at Westmount School gym, 220 Wheatland Trail, Strathmore, from 7 - 9:30 pm. New people can start any week during our dance season, October to April - no experience and no partner needed.
Our club, Wheatland Whirlers Square & Round Dance Club was started in 1974 in Strathmore as a not-for-profit, recreational club. We are one of six Modern Square Dance clubs in Calgary and area, and there are many similar clubs throughout Alberta, Canada, United States, and globally. SPECIAL EVENTS
During the dance season, every month has at least one special event. In addition, on the last Wednesday of every month donations are collected for Strathmore's Food Bank. Special events for the 2023-24 Dance Season:

- November 22 - Crazy Hat/Socks Dance
- November 25 (Saturday) - Float in the Town's Santa Claus Parade
- December 9 (Saturday) - Christmas Dinner Party (no dancing)
- December 13 - 'Red & Green' Dance
- January 17 - 'Hawaiian Night' Dance
- February 14 - 'Red & Pink' Dance
- March 17 - 'Green' Dance
- April 10 - 'Open Mic Night'
- April 24 - End-of-Season Celebration Dance
